Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have revealed details for the Godzilla movie sequel on Monday, confirming the appearances of three classic kaiju monsters; Mothra (colossal sentient caterpillar/moth 1961), Rodan(1956), and King Ghidorah ( Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster 1964).

Kaij┼ź "strange beast," is a Japanese film genre featuring giant monsters attacking big cities. The three daikaiju monster appeared as title character in Toho's Kaiju movie before before going toe-to-toe with Godzilla in Toho's "Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack" in 2001.




The sequel Godzilla: King of the Monsters, is the 3rd Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ MonsterVerse film. The movie started principal photography in Atlanta, Georgia on Monday.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity's very existence hanging in the balance.




The cast includes Ken Watanabe (The Last Samurai) , Sally Hawkins (Blue Jasmine) , Millie Bobbie Brown (Stranger Things), Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air), Kyle Chandler (The Wolf of Wall Street), Bradley Whitford (Get Out), Thomas Middleditch (HBO’s Silicon Valley), Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton), Aisha Hinds (Star Trek Into Darkness) and Zhang Ziyi (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon).

Michael Dougherty (Krampus) is directing the sequel, after co-writing the script with his Krampus writing partner Zach Shields. The film is slated for March 22, 2019. The planned Godzilla vs. Kong crossover film from director Adam Wingard is slated for May 22, 2020.
