Snagglepuss Re-imagined As A Gay Southern playwright In DC Comics Reboot Mini-Series.

Classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon character ,Snagglepuss, is re-imagined as a gay Southern playwright in the style of Tennessee Williams in DC Comics' Exit Stage Left: The Snagglepuss Chronicles comics reboot by writer by Mark Russell and artist Mike Feenan.

The Snagglepuss is part of DC Comics  rebooted and re-imagined Hanna-Barbera properties, including titles like Scooby Apocalypse and Russell’s own Flintstones series.

“It just kind of happened by accident,” Russell told The Hollywood Reporter about the project’s genesis. “I was just tweeting funny lines I thought Snagglepuss would say, if he were Tennessee Williams — some kind of Southern Gothic playwright — and Marie Javins, my editor, thought they were funny and she talked to Dan [DiDio, DC Entertainment co-publisher] about turning that into a comic. That’s how it started. It was really just funny tweets and it just ballooned from there.”

Snagglepuss first appeared in The Quick Draw McGraw Show in 1959. The character is best known for his catchphrase, "Heavens to Murgatroyd!", along with phrases such as "Exit, stage left!" and "Heavens to Betsy!".
