According to Omega Underground, Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema have brought on board Oscar winning costume designer Alexandra Byrne (Elizabeth: The Golden Age) for the reboot of Mortal Kombat.

There's no much detail about the reboot, but Simon McQuoid will allegedly direct reboot, with scripts by David Callaham (Wonder Woman 2, Expendables).

Byrne has also designed costume for Thor, The Avengers, Guardians of The Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Doctor Strange and 300: Rise of An Empire.

The first Mortal Kombat Live-action film was released in 1995. The movie was followed with a 1997 sequel film, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.
