Activision Reveals 2017 Call of DutyVideo Game Being Developed By Sledgehammer Games.

Activision has revealed in an earnings report that a new "Call of Duty" game is being developed by Sledgehammer Games (Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare).

Activision did not reveal any details about the game. However, the company says the game will be released in 2017 that the new instalment will "take Call of Duty back to its roots". Activision also revealed to IGN that "traditional combat will once again take center stage" in the game being developed by Sledgehammer Games.

Activision said Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare's "space setting didn't resonate" with players, and Infinite Warfare "wasn't the success we planned" after the game received backlash from fans who felt that the series had veered off course in the past few years.

Still, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare went on to be the best-selling game in the United States for 2016 despite not matching the heights of previous Call of Duty sales... Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg tells IGN that they've "never been more excited creatively or commercially about our three-year Call of Duty slate."
