GENCO announces New Patlabor EZY New Anime Project.

GENCO announced at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on Tuesday that Headgear's Patlabor EZY anime and manga series project is in works. The new anime series will be produced by GENCO's representative director Taro Maki (Patlabor the Mobile Police).

Patlabor EZY/ Mobile Police Patlabor anime and manga seriea was created by manga director Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell, Sky Crawlers), script writer Kazunori Itō (.hack, Dirty Pair), mecha designer Yutaka Izubuchi (Eureka Seven, Mobile Suit Gundam franchise), character designer Akemi Takada (Kimagure Orange Road, Urusei Yatsura, Fancy Lala), and manga creator Masami Yuuki (Birdy the Mighty) under the name of Headgear from April 25, 1988 – June 25, 1989.

With the rapidly accelerating development of hyper-technology, a humanoid-type machine called "Labor" is being used in every field of industry. However, it has created the new social menace of "Labor" crime. In order to curb such crimes from happening one after another, the Metropolitan Police Department has established a special department. the "Special Vehicle Section No.2". It consists of company of patrol "Labor" known as Patlabor.
Maki announced in November that "a new Patlabor the Mobile Police project is starting." He joked that he wondered how many years it will take.

Patlabor EZY project script writer, Kazunori Itō , confirmed on his official Twitter that he will be taking part in the new project

"I have been working on a thing like this. Though it won't be realized anytime soon, I am working on
it anyway. It won't be realized anytime soon...," Kazunori Itō tweeted.

Since its launch in 1988 the franchise has spawned a manga, a TV series, two OVA series, three feature-length movies, two light novel series, and a short film compilation, named Minipato, and video games.
