Tv Show host John Oliver, has allegedly joined the cast of Disney's remake of The Lion King. The "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver" host will apparently voice Zazu, previously voiced by Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) in the original animated film.

The Lion King remake will be directed by Jon Favreau. The animated movie is slated for July 19, 2019, and will star Donald Glover (Atlanta) as Simba, Billy Eichner as Timon, and Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, with Beyoncé rumoured to voice Nala. James Earl Jones (Star Wars) will be returning once again to lend his voice to Mufasa.

The film is currently in preproduction in Los Angeles. Oliver and Disney haven't made an official announcement yet.

The original Lion King animated film was released in 1994. The animated film was directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff, produced by Don Hahn, with a screenplay by Irene Mecchi, Jonathan Roberts, and Linda Woolverton. The film original songs were written by Elton John and lyricist Tim Rice, and original scores were written by Hans Zimmer. The Lion King earned $968.5 million on the Box office with a budget of $45 million.
